Comprehensive eye exams are recommended for children and young adults under 20 years old and seniors over 65 years old on a yearly basis. Diabetic eye exams are also recommended at least once a year. Adults aged 20 – 65 years old are generally advised to have comprehensive eye exams every one to two years, unless informed otherwise.

RETINAL IMAGING
Our specialty camera allows us to photograph the inside of the eye, including the retina, optic nerve, blood vessels, and macula. Excellent for understanding how your eye works, it also allows us to better see any changes due to diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, macular degeneration, and glaucoma, just to name a few.
OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive scan of the eye allowing the doctors to view the numerous layers of your retina in cross section. This scan can be exceptionally telling of complications due to diabetes and macular degeneration, allowing for a deeper view of the nerve tissue.
VISUAL FIELDS
Visual field testing allows for mapping of each eye’s field of view. This is an interactive test and is important in monitoring some disease processes including diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, stroke, and cataracts to name a few.
MACULA TESTING
Low levels of pigment in the macular area of the retina are linked with a higher risk of developing macular degeneration, and its progression. We are proud to offer macular pigment density testing at VVO. Based on the results of this test we are able to predict relative risk of developing macular degeneration and more accurately make recommendations to help reduce your risk.
VISION THERAPY
At Victoria Village Optometry we are excited to offer Vision Therapy to clients of all ages. Vision Therapy allows us to work one-on-one with children and adults whose eyes may not be working together as a team. With in-office sessions combined with at-home activities, Vision Therapy can help reduce headaches and strain, and improve overall achievement in school and everyday activities.
CONTACT LENSES
Whether for special occasions, sports, or everyday use, we offer contact lenses and training of soft, hard, clear, coloured, and specialty lenses. Being a foreign object on the eye, it is important that contacts are assessed on the eye for proper fit and comfort to minimize infections, discomfort, and to assess for oxygenation of the cornea.
